Hello, Today after putting my computer into sleep mode and putting it in my bag it won't start anymore. All it does is turn the power light on and then instantly turns off again. The screen doesn't flash on or anything

Hi @Adam1996
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your laptop may be experiencing a hardware or power-related issue. It’s common for laptops to encounter problems after being put into sleep mode, especially if they experience a power fluctuation or if there's a component malfunction. Let’s troubleshoot the issue step by step to see if we can get it working again.
Here are a few things to try:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
Sometimes, a hard reset can help clear out any issues preventing the laptop from powering on properly.
- Turn off the laptop completely (if it’s not already).
- Unplug the laptop from the power source.
- Remove the battery (if it's removable). If the battery is not removable, skip this step.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-30 seconds to drain any residual power from the laptop.
- Reinsert the battery (if you removed it) and plug the laptop back into the charger.
- Try turning it on again by pressing the power button.
2. Check the Power Source
Ensure that your power adapter and charging port are working properly.
- Check the charger: Make sure the power adapter is plugged in securely to both the laptop and the wall. If possible, try using a different charger (if you have one) to rule out the charger as the problem.
- Inspect the charging port: Sometimes, dirt or debris can block the port, preventing the laptop from receiving power. Gently clean the charging port and plug it in again.
- Use the laptop with the charger connected: Even if the battery is not removable, try turning the laptop on while it's plugged in.
3. Disconnect External Devices
Sometimes external devices (USB devices, external monitors, etc.) can cause issues during startup.
- Unplug any external devices such as USB drives, external keyboards, or mice from the laptop.
- Try turning on the laptop again to see if it starts properly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
