I bought this laptop a week a go from amazon and arrived today. I have done all possible updates on this pc and now the pc faces little glitches like- Screen goes black for a second and comes back in between settings app or after startup. The lock screen background disappears after I press enter after booting the pc from shutdown. When I press co pilot button newly after starting the pc, it opens for a split second and closes immediately and stays open permanently only after pressing copilot button for the second time. Any idea why is this happening? When booting the pc I had imported a few onedrive files from previous laptop to new one, is it because of that? Other than these glitches, all other apps are performing fast and smooth no issue in performance of device.

@Kaushtav, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like your new HP laptop is experiencing some minor glitches, which can be frustrating but are often fixable. The symptoms you described could be related to several things, such as driver issues, system settings, or even how your OneDrive files were imported. I'll go over some troubleshooting steps as well as some general suggestions to help you pinpoint and resolve these issues.

Update Graphics and Display Drivers

Since you're seeing issues with screen flickering and blackouts, this could be related to the graphics driver.

How to update drivers:

Go to Device Manager (Right-click Start button > Device Manager).

Expand Display adapters.

Right-click on your graphics card (e.g., Intel or NVIDIA) and select Update driver.

Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Follow the on-screen instructions to update if an update is found.

If this doesn't help, you can also visit the HP Support website and search for your laptop model to download the latest drivers.

Run HP Diagnostics

HP offers built-in diagnostic tools that can help you check if there's a hardware issue with your laptop.

Turn off your laptop.

Turn it back on and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.

Press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

Select Run a system test and let it perform the checks.

If any issues are detected, follow the prompts to resolve them.

Check for Windows Updates and System Health

You've already done the updates, but it's worth ensuring everything is up-to-date, including optional updates (e.g., drivers and patches).

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for any additional updates.

You can also run System File Checker (SFC) to repair any corrupted system files:

Press Windows + X, then select Command Prompt (Admin).

Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

Let the tool scan and fix any issues it finds.

OneDrive Sync Issues

Sometimes, OneDrive can cause glitches during the initial sync or if it's not fully configured on a new machine. Since you imported files from your previous laptop, it could be syncing in the background and causing the screen blackouts or other glitches.

Try pausing OneDrive syncing temporarily to see if that resolves the issue:

Right-click on the OneDrive icon in the taskbar.

Click Pause syncing.

Monitor your system for a while to see if the glitches persist.

If the glitches stop after pausing OneDrive, consider letting it finish syncing before using it heavily.

Perform a Clean Boot

To rule out any third-party software interfering with system operations, you can perform a Clean Boot:

Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and hit Enter.

In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab and check Hide all Microsoft services.

Click Disable all, then go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.

In Task Manager, disable all non-essential startup programs.

Restart your laptop and see if the glitches persist.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
