I do not own a gaming notebook per se: I have a recently-purchased HP ENVY 17 CG1-XXX.
I am a bit surprised because if I playing any kinds the computer fan starts blowing like crazy. This is the case for Warcraft III (an almost 20-year-old game!) and MTG: Arena (a card game with simple 3D graphics). This is on the lower graphics settings too.
Sometimes the computer hums even just having multiple browser windows and chat apps open. Is this normal?
Edit: The BIOS does not need updating and the "fan always on" setting is switched off.

There is a limit when cpu gets up to some usage exp 20% fans start to kick in this is when your laptop is plugged in and when it is not (only battery usage ) u dont hear any fan noise, u can enable passive cooling in windows setting by following this tutorial: https://www.top-password.com/blog/change-system-cooling-policy-in-windows/ and try replacing cleaning ur fans and replacing thermal paste that might increase ur performance and it will lower your temperatures. Be aware u will loose fps when this feature is set to passive, and you might damage your laptop due to overheating.
