Hi @Mats14,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for explaining the issue so clearly. Your Victus 16-r0000 gaming laptop maintains 60 FPS initially, but after about an hour of gaming, FPS drops to 52–54 FPS even though:
- Temps are fine (around 75°C).
- OMEN Gaming Hub is set to max performance.
- Virtual RAM changes didn’t help.
This behavior usually points to GPU/CPU power throttling or resource saturation over time, not thermal throttling. Here are the most common causes and fixes:
Why FPS Drops After 1 Hour
- Background Processes or Windows Features
- Power Delivery or VRM Throttling
- Memory Leak in Game or Driver
- Dynamic Boost / Optimus Behavior
Fixes to Try
1. Update BIOS & GPU Drivers
- Go to Victus by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-r0000 | HP® Support.
- Install the latest BIOS, chipset, and NVIDIA drivers.
- Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) before reinstalling GPU drivers for a clean setup.
2. Disable Windows Widgets & Background Apps
- Go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Widgets → Turn off.
- Disable unnecessary startup apps.
3. Lock GPU Performance Mode
- In OMEN Gaming Hub, set Performance Control to Max.
- In NVIDIA Control Panel, set Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance.
4. Monitor Power Limits
- Use HWinfo64 to check if PL1/PL2 throttling occurs after an hour.
- If yes, undervolting or adjusting power profiles can help.
5. Check for Memory Leaks
- Open Task Manager during gameplay.
- If RAM usage keeps climbing, restart the game or apply patches.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
