Hi @vansh38

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds incredibly frustrating—especially with a brand-new gaming laptop that should be handling GTA V without breaking a sweat. The behavior you're describing—shutting down without warning when unplugged, showing 100% charge, and refusing to power on unless connected—strongly points to a battery or power delivery issue.

Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and resolve the issue:

Potential Causes

  1. Battery Calibration Issue: The battery may not be calibrated properly and is reporting incorrect charge levels.
  2. Battery Health Problem: There may be a problem with the battery itself, affecting its ability to hold charge.
  3. Power Management Settings: The laptop’s power management settings may be set to shut down the device when under heavy load without being plugged in.

Solutions and Troubleshooting Steps

1. Battery Calibration

To ensure your battery is calibrated correctly, follow these steps:

  1. Fully Discharge the Battery:
    • Use the laptop until it shuts down due to low battery.
  2. Fully Charge the Battery:
    • Plug in the charger and let the laptop charge to 100% without interruption.
  3. Repeat the Process:
    • This process can be repeated a few times to help recalibrate the battery sensors.

2. Check Battery Health

Use the built-in HP software to check the health of your battery:

  1. HP Support Assistant:
    • Open HP Support Assistant.
    • Go to "Battery Check" and follow the prompts to run a battery test.
  2. Windows Battery Report:
    • Type cmd in the search box and open the Command Prompt.
    • Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.
    • Navigate to the path indicated in the Command Prompt to view the battery report.

3. Power Management Settings

Ensure your power management settings are optimized for performance:

  1. Adjust Power Plan:
    • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
    • Select "High Performance" to ensure the laptop does not enter low-power mode during intensive tasks.

4. Update Drivers and BIOS

Ensure all drivers and BIOS are up to date:
