Hello,
I would like to know what is the maximum amount of RAM my computer can take, and how many slots it has.
My guess is 32gb, (2 x 16gb), due to the result I got from entering "wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx" into the command prompt. However, I can't find any information through the HP website, HP Support Assistant, Task Manager, or HP System Information confirming that 32 gb is the max.
So my question is, what is the maximum amout of RAM my computer can take, and how many slots do I have? Thank you!

Hi:
Your notebook has two memory slots and can support up to 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory.
HP only has the service manual for the older 15-ec0xxx model series on your notebook's support page.
HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec1073dx Manuals | HP® Customer Support
Chapter 1 of the manual has the memory upgrade information.

@Paul_Tikkanen I bought 2 sticks of 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory and installed them both. However, my computer (in both system settings and BIOS) states that I only have 16 GB of memory. I also tried using one memory stick at a time and in both cases, my system still said I had 16 GB of memory. On page 11 of the Maintenance and Service manual you linked in the previous post (also linked at the bottom) it states that my computer:
"Supports up to 32 GB maximum system memory in the following configurations:
● 16 GB (16 GB × 1 or 8 GB × 2)
● 12 GB (8 GB × 1 + 4 GB × 1)
● 8 GB (8 GB × 1 or 4 GB × 2)"
This is confusing because the bolded line seems to imply that this computer can only support up to 16 GB of memory. If this is not the case, then how do I ensure that my computer registers the 32 GB? Thank you in advance.

Hi:
Unfortunately, I don't know what the problem could be.
The 2 x 16 GB memory configuration is missing from the service manual in error.
You can see that your notebook can support 2 x 16 GB of memory by running the following command:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
