OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-c0000 (343L4AV)

I have an HP OMEN 16-c0375ng 4T892EA. I upgraded to 64 GB memory (2 x 32 GB kit from Crucial CT2K32G4SFD832A, which is supported), but it only shows 32 GB and 1 out of 2 banks in used.

With cpu-Z I see both banks are populated and I can even see the different serial numbers of the memory bars.

I already upgraded the BIOS to the latest version. Some sources on the HP forums suggest I have to reset the BIOS, I did factory reset, but nothing changed. Still stuck with 32 GB instead of 64 GB.

Any ideas?

Hi @Geo124

The service manual indicates a maximum of 32 GB, did you see in the Task Manager how much memory was allocated to the hardware, did you test each slot separately?

The numbers I initially found suggested 64GB was good to go, and a matching set on crucial website with the exact product ID and everything nicely matching.

31,3GB assigned to the system. Both slots tested separately, the memory works, but it only wants to use one slot (as it reaches 32GB  I assume)

I fiddled a bit with the BIOS and managed to get the advanced menu up (Ctrl+F10 at boot time), but nothing in there to help me anything further.

ask how much memory you have reserved in hardware because AMD processors take a lot of memory for hardware and leave little memory available for the system.
