HP offered me a monthly charge Care Pack and I purchased it. However, my device still says out of warranty and this was the only free option for getting help. Do I have to do something too get it attached to my device? It had the device info correct when I purchased it. I just need to make sure all is in order before I let my son start playing on my laptop

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

If "monthly" package refers to a subscription to SmartFriend,

(then)

The subscription might not change the status of the original Warranty.

(and)

What to do?

Contact SmartFriend -- ask whether the subscription should display in your Warranty status check.

That's not what it is. It's called the HP Care Pack Monthly pickup and return ADP. My devices just updated to show that it's under warranty now tho, so I guess it just took a little time

OK - makes sense - purchased Care Pack does generally display as part of the Warranty Check.
