Around 2 years ago, (3 months after the warranty expired) I was on my laptop and it suddenly turned off, I heard a pop and smelled smoke. I took it to Asurion and they said the CPU and motherboard shorted. I have no clue how this even happened, I was playing a game and I was maybe using 50-60% CPU and it was plugged in.

The repair cost was $550, I did not go through with the repair since the laptop was $1,000. This really sucks since it was such a great laptop but it clearly had some issues.

 

It was only a year old, I regularly cleaned the fans and such. I feel as if the laptop had a defect from factory. I hope to get a replacement.
