@ItchyJim

Your machine uses battery part # 917724-855   which is N/A from HP Part store now

            https://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=7MA38UA

You can buy elsewhere such as

           https://www.newegg.com/p/1B4-07Y6-00048

Thx for the help, but your links are to trash batteries already bought a battery from there and got a broke one that wouldn't charge, sent it back didn't even get another one.

I just want to buy the battery from the people who made the battery, and can I not just send it to hp for a free one under warranty?

Hi @ItchyJim,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Apologies for all the inconvenience!

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!

If you contact HP Customer Support, they will likely overnight a new one to you. You get connected to a rep really fast, in my experience.

I wish HP and other computer makers would list more information about expandability - how many RAM slots, max ram supported, how many M2s and what length, single or double-sided, max capacity, how many 2.5" SATA, etc.  I left that feedback on a specs page for one HP laptop I looked at.

Yes, You need to replace your battery on utmost priority because if you won't it'll effect the performance of your laptop. Moreover, you can go for this.

I'll never buy another HP product again they waited until my warranty went out to contact me and I've been trying to get a new battery since August last year and they kept giving me the run around plus the battery went out only after 3 months of owning my laptop.
