My HP OMEN laptop won't charge

I was doing school work in my laptop, and I forgot that it was about to run out of battery. It shut down and I plugged it in to charge, but the orange light wouldn't turn on. I was still trying to turn it on, and after a while the orange light turned on. I turned on the laptop and started working again, but after a while it shut down again. I checked to see if it was charging, but the orange light wasn't turned on again. I have tried different outlets, but my laptop still won't charge at all.

Usually, when the battery depletes fully and/or you press and hold the power button down for greater than 15 seconds, the charging light will go off, as it's doing a power drain of the capacitors (helpful for when you service the machine). It may be best to leave it on the charger for an extended period of time, without trying to turn it on, to see if it will charge up sufficiently. It may be that the battery is too weak, or drained too much to be able to turn the machine on without perhaps damaging the battery. This only occurs, when the voltage drops below the minimum safe threshold.


If leaving it on the charger for a prolonged period of time (2-4 hours) without interaction does not help, you may need to have to request a replacement battery from HP/visit a nearby HP Service center, as one or more cells within the battery pack may be malfunctioning. Please also ensure that you are charging the machine in a cool, and dry place. If the ambient temperature is too high and/or too low, the battery may not be able to safely be charged.


You may also need to remove the battery from the system, allow it to sit for approximately 10 to 15 minutes, and then reinsert the battery again making sure it is fully secured, then close up the bottom of the laptop again, then attempt to power it on. It may be the battery just requires a bit of a reset, so to speak. (However, the above mentioned method may not be recommended if you do not have sufficient experience in safely disassembling/reassembling machinery and/or do not have the appropriate tools and safety items. In this case I would recommend you contact HP, and had schedule a service center appointment with an agent.)
