Hi @Cesar36,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing some lag or freezing issues on your HP Victus laptop. This can happen due to various reasons like background processes, driver conflicts, or system resource issues.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.

Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, freezing can be due to outdated drivers or system files.

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Update Drivers: Make sure all your drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date.

  • You can do this via Device Manager or use the HP Support Assistant to find and install the latest drivers.

Check Task Manager for High CPU Usage:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Look for any processes using a high amount of CPU or memory. If you notice something that shouldn’t be running, you can try ending that process.

Disable Background Apps:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Background apps, and turn off apps that don't need to run in the background.

Power Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options, and select High Performance. You can also adjust the advanced power settings to make sure the CPU isn’t throttling down too aggressively.

Check for Malware: Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or any third-party antivirus software to rule out malware or other malicious software affecting performance.

Check for Overheating: If the laptop is getting too hot, it could cause performance issues. Make sure the cooling system is working correctly, and try using it on a hard surface to ensure proper airflow.

System File Check:

  • Open Command Prompt (Admin) and type the following:

sfc /scannow

This will check for any corrupted system files and attempt to repair them.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be worth performing a system restore or resetting the laptop to a previous state when it was working fine.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
