Hp Pavillion Gaming Notebook - 15-ak100nf
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I have an HP Pavillion15-ak100nf and these last months it started to shutdown by itself (when i was gaming or working on an application the screen turn off and the computer shutdown immediately.)

i thought it was overheating at first and i tried to clean my laptop with the help of a professional and he even changed the thermal paste. it didn't shutdown for 5-6h but again it started to shutdown like everytime.

i've done some searches on the internet and i tried all the solutions but nothing works.. also i ran many scans with multiple antiviruses (Avast/Windows Defender/Malwarebytes) and nothing changed.

also some people adviced me to reset my windows and i just lost my files for nothing...

i hope you guys can help me with this issue because i really need my computer asap and i just wanna know what is exactly the issue (hardware or software).

Hi @unluckypupe

I understand your concern. While resetting the PC, we do get an option to back up the data. I guess you missed it. For now, let us make sure all the drivers on the PC are up to date and also run a hardware test to check their functionality.

Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Let us run a test on the hardware components of the PC

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  3. Perform System Test > Extensive test. Share the result on your next post.

Follow these steps to disable the automatic restart option:

  1. In Windows, search for and open View advanced system settings.

  2. Click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section.

    Figure : System Properties window

    System Properties window
  3. Remove the checkmark next to Automatically restart under System Failure, then click OK.

Figure : Automatically restart check box

Location of the Automatically restart check box
  4. Restart the computer.

NOTE: The computer no longer restarts automatically when a problem occurs. Instead, a blue screen appears with more useful information. You can now search for a resolution using the information in the error.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
