CX-0012NL
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys, i've the same problem with my Laptop HP CX0012NL described on a previous post:

randomly (almost every day) the screen turns black for a second, then it reappears, but in a unusual black&white, tipical of a phisical problem, and i have to close and re-open the screencover to restore the correct image.

I tried to update with the latest bios, drivers, etc... but it would seem to be a factory defect of the panel. My guarantee has expired unfortunately, i didnt sent it on assistence before becuase the problem has vanishead for some week, but now it is reappared again.  Some suggestion? Thanks a lot

Hello @Davide_82

That model was only generally available the end of August 2018, so I cant imagine its been out of warranty for very long. 🙁

It might be a failing panel or it could be a bad cable (getting pinched when the lid is closed). It might even be a bad GPU on the motherboard.

Can you connect an external monitor to the HDMI port and see if it happens there also?

If it does the same thing, its most likely the GPU or motherboard.

If it does not exhibit the same weird behavior, the panel or panel ribbon cable is failing.

A panel or ribbon cable can be replaced much cheaper than a motherboard.

Let me know.

Thanks for your reply Photoray. Using an external monitor i have no problem. Yes, maybe  is a defect of the panel/connector cable inside. But it's strange because also other people have the same problem with this model, and my laptop is always opened.  Fortunately for now it is tolerable, only a little bit annoying. Thanks a lot.
