Hello.
I know that my envy is not a gaming laptop. It has a nvidia mx150 4gb. I bought laptop for general use and light weight games.
The problem is that the Nvidia card throttles at 70 celisuis and drops fps to 15 or 20.
I am wondering that my notebook has a dedicated graphics card but i can't use it as it jumps to 70 celisuis in a medium resolution light weight game like Dota2.
Am i doing something wrong? or it's a configuration problem!
Thanks.

Finally i knew the problem. It's HP Command center. It has thermal profiles (HP recommended, performance, comfort). In
my case it was HP recommended by default. Which clearly has very conservative thermal points. I tried performance the GPU temperature reached aroud 80 celisius without throtling.
Please HP next time tell your customers about these default preferences. Yeah the default is the most suitable but how should i know about HP command center.
Anyway thanks Dean for your help. Appreciated.

Strange that is lagging on AC and not battery.
Have you set your Nvidia Control Panel to run a maximum settings?
Go to Manage 3D Settings and over to Global Settings tab.
Scroll down to Power Management Mode and set the drop down box to Prefer Maximum Performance.
If you see a box under Global settings for Preferred Graphics Processor, choose the MX150 card, not Auto Select.

To be clear i tested on battery for 5 minutes only as ususally i play on AC. I already did that but for the specific game i want to play.
I will explain what happens
first GPU clock is constantly at 1700mhz until GPU reaches like 75 to 80 degrees.
Then GPU clock drops to lower levels like 300 mhz until card reaches 69 degrees again.
Then sometimes it stucks at 300 and 500 mhz. and sometimes it comes back to higher levels but still lags and
drops again to very low clocks regardless the performance needed.
I am confused is it a pure heating problem OR the GPU doesn't get the power needed to perfrom well. Have no idea.

Thanks for the update @Sherif-Osama
Apparently HP is putting this HP command center in a few select X360 model now. I will make a note of it as I dont do much support in that section of the forum.
