Hi @SaAsnbr,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing a black screen while gaming on your OMEN by HP 16.1 Inch Gaming Laptop can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check Display Connection: Ensure that the display cable (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.) is securely connected to both the laptop and the monitor. If you're using an external monitor, try connecting it to a different port on your laptop or try a different cable.
  • Check Power Settings: Sometimes, power-saving settings or screen timeout settings can cause the screen to go black during gameplay. Check your power settings and adjust them accordingly, ensuring that the screen doesn't turn off during use.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can cause various display issues, including black screens. Update your graphics drivers to the latest version available from the HP website or directly from the GPU manufacturer's website.
  • Monitor Temperature: Overheating can also cause black screens during intense gaming sessions. Use software like HWMonitor to monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming. If temperatures are excessively high, consider cleaning the laptop's cooling system or investing in a laptop cooling pad.
  • Adjust Graphics Settings: Lowering in-game graphics settings can reduce the strain on your GPU, potentially preventing black screen issues. Try lowering the graphics settings in the game you're playing and see if the problem persists.
  • Run Hardware Diagnostics: HP laptops often come with built-in hardware diagnostics tools. Run these diagnostics to check for any hardware issues, particularly with the GPU or display components.
  • Check for Software Conflicts: Sometimes, background software or conflicting applications can cause display issues. Try closing unnecessary programs and background processes before launching the game.
  • Reset or Reinstall Windows: If none of the above solutions work, consider resetting or reinstalling Windows on your laptop. This can help eliminate any software-related issues that may be causing the black screen problem.

By following these steps, you can hopefully diagnose and resolve the black screen issue on your OMEN gaming laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
