Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598V2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop , and whenever I use it to play demanding video games like cod warzone , the charger will disconnect randomly. It'll stay plugged in of course, but the computer will refuse to recognize it until I unplug and replug it. With some games, it'll do this every 5-10 seconds, and each time I'll have to unplug and replug it, and whenever it changes whether it's charging or not, the screen will flash black which affects my gaming experience.

Hi @Gamermishra,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding laptop charger disconnect issues during gaming!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Power Adapter and Battery Check:

  • Inspect the charger: Ensure that the charger is not damaged and is functioning properly.
  • Check the battery health: Go to HP Support Assistant or BIOS to check battery health and ensure it is functioning correctly.

Power Settings:

  • Adjust Power Management Settings:
    • Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
    • Select High Performance or a custom plan that does not have aggressive power saving settings.
    • Ensure the settings for "Plugged in" are set to maximize performance and do not reduce processor throttling or power management aggressively.

Cooling and Performance:

  • Check for overheating:
    • Make sure the laptop’s cooling system is functioning properly and is not overheating. Overheating can cause the system to throttle and potentially disconnect the charger.
    • Use software like HWMonitor to check temperatures during gaming. Ensure temperatures remain within safe limits.
  • Clean the vents: Ensure that the air vents are not blocked or dusty which might cause thermal throttling.

BIOS and Driver Updates:

  • Update BIOS:
    • Go to the HP Support website (hp.com) and update the BIOS to the latest version.
  • Update Power Management drivers: Ensure all drivers related to power management and battery are up to date. This can also be done through HP Support Assistant.

Hardware Issues:

  • Inspect the charging port: Ensure that the charging port is not loose or damaged.
  • Check the power brick: Sometimes, power bricks can fail under high load. Check if it’s heating up excessively.

I hope this helps.
