So, the problem that I am facing is that when I try to launch certain games, the game is unable to access the Nvidia RTX 4070 card that is installed in my laptop, thus unabling the game to launch. However, when force these games to use the Intel UHD Graphics, the game launches just fine, but with horrible perfomance, which is expected since it is consuming nothing from the 4070. I have tried reinstalling the game, reinstalling the drivers, updating windows, updating the drivers, performing a clean install of the drivers, etc. And have found no success yet.

I dont know how correct it is to do this, but here is a link that guides to another forum that has tried to deal with the same problem with more detail: Graphics driver initialization failure issue :: Warframe Bugs and Issues

The issue is not only with warframe but also with many other games: Monster Hunter, Granblue Fantasy Rising...

Hi @Dr0516, Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

Let's walk through a structured solution to help resolve this.

1. Check Device Manager

  • Press Win + X → Select Device Manager
  • Expand Display Adapters
  • Ensure both Intel UHD Graphics and NVIDIA RTX 4070 are listed.
    • If NVIDIA is missing, reinstall drivers (see Step 3).

2. Set Preferred GPU in NVIDIA Control Panel

  • Right-click on desktop → Open NVIDIA Control Panel
  • Go to Manage 3D SettingsGlobal Settings
  • Set Preferred graphics processor to High-performance NVIDIA processor
  • Apply changes

3. Reinstall NVIDIA Drivers (Clean Install)

  • Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode to remove old drivers: DDU Download
  • Download latest Studio Driver (not Game Ready) from NVIDIA: RTX 4070 Studio Driver
  • During installation, choose Custom Install → Check Clean Installation

4. Configure Windows Graphics Settings

  • Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics
  • Add your game (e.g., Warframe.exe)
  • Click Options → Choose High Performance (uses NVIDIA GPU)

5. Switch GPU Mode in OMEN Gaming Hub

  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub
  • Go to Graphics Switcher
  • Change from Hybrid to Discrete GPU Mode
    • This forces the system to use RTX 4070 for all rendering tasks.

6. BIOS Check (Optional)

  • Restart and press EscF10 to enter BIOS
  • Look for Graphics Configuration (if available)
  • Set to Dynamic Switchable Graphics or Discrete
  • Save and exit

7. Fix for Warframe Specific Error

If you're seeing "Graphics driver initialization failed":

  • Change Graphics API in Warframe Launcher from DirectX 12 to DirectX 11
  • Set Warframe Launcher and Warframe.x64.exe to use NVIDIA GPU in both Windows and NVIDIA Control Panel
  • Roll back Intel UHD driver if recent update caused conflict

Additional Tips

  • Avoid gaming on battery, performance throttles significantly.
  • Disable Fast Startup in Windows Power Options.
  • Ensure Windows 11 24H2 is fully updated.
  • Use HP Support Assistant to check for BIOS and EC firmware updates: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
