- My laptop charger wasn't working. So I ordered another one . It took 2 + weeks to reach. Now when I try to charge my laptop the charger light is not lighting. It is the right charger. I don't know if problem is with laptop or charger. Can it be because the battery is not working because I haven't charged the laptop for 17 days. How long will it take to charge it again if so.

Hi @Roroanna,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It’s frustrating when your laptop isn't turning on, especially after a long wait for a replacement charger. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you diagnose and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Charger and Connections:
- Verify Charger Compatibility: Double-check that the new charger is indeed the correct model for your laptop.
- Inspect Connections: Ensure the charger is properly connected to both the laptop and the power outlet. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause issues.
- Test Power Outlet: Try plugging the charger into a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the outlet itself.
Check Battery and Power Status:
- Remove and Reinsert Battery (if possible): If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out and inspect it for any visible damage. Reinsert it securely and try powering on the laptop.
- Hold Power Button: Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to perform a power reset. Sometimes, this can help resolve issues with powering on.
Examine Charger and Adapter:
- Inspect Charger for Damage: Look for any visible damage or wear on the charger and cables.
- Try a Different Charger: If possible, use a different charger compatible with your laptop to see if the problem persists.
Battery Charging Time:
- Initial Charge Time: If the battery has been completely depleted, it may take some time for the laptop to power on. Usually, a few minutes to an hour of charging should be sufficient before attempting to power on the laptop.
- Charge Indicator Light: If your charger has a light indicator, ensure it’s functioning. If the light isn’t on, the charger may be faulty.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
