Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb1000 (7Y8M8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought two replacements as the original charger is slowly going bad. The first replacement worked for a while, but stopped suddenly a month in. Both replacements are 150W like the original. They both have HP-Part: 917649-850 on them, which is what the original charger said I should replace it with. I'm lost and would appreciate some help, please. If you need more information please ask. 🙃

Hi @Dijon7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your HP Victus 15-fb1000 charging correctly with replacement chargers. Here are a few troubleshooting steps and considerations that could help resolve the issue:

Verify Charger Compatibility: Although the replacements have the same part number (917649-850) and wattage (150W), ensure they are genuine HP chargers. Sometimes, third-party chargers may not perform as expected even if they are labelled similarly.

Check the Charging Port: Examine the laptop’s charging port for any signs of damage or debris that might prevent a secure connection. Carefully remove any dirt or obstructions and ensure the port is not loose.

Inspect the Power Supply: Ensure that the electrical outlet you are using is functioning properly. Try plugging the charger into a different outlet to check if it resolves the issue.

Examine the Battery and Power Settings: Check if there are any settings or battery management software that might be limiting charging. Updating the BIOS and power management drivers on your laptop can sometimes resolve charging issues.

Test Battery Health: Consider testing the laptop’s battery health using HP's diagnostics tools. Poor battery health might affect how the laptop charges with different adapters.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
