HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-dk0068wm
Microsoft Windows 11

A couple months back it started to randomly and with no popup, message, or notification, completely power off. It would then not turn on for a good 10-15 mins. It used to do this every odd few days if it ran too many programs or something, but its gotten to the point where running 2 tabs with a game does it in 20 minutes. The only current info I've gotten is that it seems to be RAM related, but even when running on reduced ram using specialized browsers/cutting back in any way, it doesn't seem to help. This is my first laptop, and if im being honest, im not the most experienced in these technical affairs, but I just don't really know what to do.

Hi@Gunkip,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing shutdown issues with the HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to the latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • Try doing Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.
  • Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics is a Windows-based utility that allows you to run diagnostic tests to determine whether the computer hardware is functioning properly. The tool runs within the Windows operating system in order to diagnose hardware failures.

Try and check in Bios using the F10 key if it shutdown in Bios. To enter Bios, click restart and keep tapping the F10 key and then turn on the PC at the same time to enter Bios screen.

If the issue persists in Bios then it is a hardware issue on the PC.

For any hardware issue or repair please click on the link Phone Assist Worldwide

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
