OMEN by HP – 17-an117no
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi I have a problem with my OMEN by HP - 17-an117no Laptop. A week ago the computer discharged and died while I was playing because the plug (from the charger to the wall socket) slipped out. After that, the computer refused to restart until the computer was fully charged and it worked as usual. After that, however, the computer usually refuses to start. I hold down the button, it buzzes and then it dies. The shady thing is that if I unplug the charger during the night I have to plug it in and let it fully charge before it can start and if I have had in the charger all night I have to pull it out and wait 10-15 minutes before it can start. Once I get the computer is up and running, everything works fine and finds no fault with the battery when I run troubleshooting and its battery time and performance is also normal. But think that something is physically damaged because it behaves like this. Is this something a1 can come up with a solution for? Since I got max 1-2 hours of spare time every day for gaming this is driving me absolutely nuts and I am thinking of taking it for a repair.

@Erkish Welcome to HP Community!

I suggest you try with an alternate power adapter and another wall outlet to check if that makes a difference,

Also, where there any thunderstorms in your area before this issue occurred (at the night of the plug slipping out)?

Let's perform a power reset as per HP standards:

  • Ensure your laptop is OFF.
  • Unplug all the external devices (If any).
  • Disconnect the power charger from the computer, and remove the battery.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
  • Connect the power supply (power adapter).
  • Press the power button to turn on your laptop.
  • Then put your battery back.

Let me know how that pans out,
