Hi @bhuvanks

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sharing that—screen flickering during startup and loading screens can be incredibly disruptive, especially on a gaming laptop like your HP Pavilion 15-ec2000. Since you mentioned this started after updating the NVIDIA graphics driver, and you're also seeing frame rate drops and GPU/CPU spikes, it’s likely tied to either driver instability or display configuration conflicts.

Let’s walk through a structured recovery plan to stabilize your display:

Step-by-Step Fix for Screen Flickering

1. Boot into Safe Mode

This helps isolate whether the issue is driver-related.

  • Press Shift while clicking Restart from the Start menu
  • Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart
  • Press 4 to boot into Safe Mode
  • Observe if flickering persists—if not, it confirms a driver or software conflict

2. Roll Back the NVIDIA Driver

If the flickering began after a recent update, reverting may help.

  • Press Win + X > Device Manager
  • Expand Display Adapters, right-click your NVIDIA GPU
  • Select Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver
  • If rollback isn’t available, uninstall the driver and reinstall a stable version from HP’s official page:
    HP Pavilion 15-ec2000 Drivers

3. Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause display instability.

  • Visit the HP BIOS Update Guide
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your model

4. Adjust Display Refresh Rate

Incorrect refresh rate settings can trigger flickering.

  • Right-click on desktop > Display Settings > Advanced Display Settings
  • Set refresh rate to 60Hz or the recommended value
  • Save and restart

5. Disable Hardware Acceleration

Some apps and system processes use GPU acceleration that may conflict with drivers.

  • In Chrome or Edge:
    • Go to Settings > System
    • Toggle off Use hardware acceleration when available
  • In Windows:
    • Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings
    • Add affected apps and set them to Power Saving

I’m truly sorry this has disrupted your experience—especially on a system built for performance. If the issue continues after these steps, I can help guide you through a deeper driver cleanup.

Let’s get your display back to smooth, stable performance.
