Hi @JEDIX1

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Got it — your HP Victus 15-fb2077AX being slow + draining battery quickly only 2 months after purchase is not normal.

Let’s break this into two parts:

1. Slowness / Performance issues

Your model (fb2077AX) usually ships with a Ryzen 5 or 7 CPU + RTX GPU — so it should run smooth. Possible causes of slowness:

Quick checks

Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) → Check CPU, Disk, and Memory usage when idle.

If Disk is stuck at 100% → background apps/updates or a bad SSD driver.

If CPU at 90–100% when idle → bloatware/updates.

If Memory >80% → RAM bottleneck.

Fixes

Update drivers & BIOS

Install AMD chipset + graphics drivers from AMD’s official site (not just HP’s page, which can be outdated).

Install HP BIOS/firmware updates from HP Support Assistant.

Turn off background HP bloatware

Many HP services run in the background (Omen Gaming Hub, HP Analytics, etc.).

Disable from Task Manager → Startup tab.

Check Windows power mode

Settings → System → Power → set to Best Performance.

In AMD Adrenalin, set GPU mode to Standard/Performance, not power-saving.

SSD & Windows reset

Run chkdsk /f and sfc /scannow in Command Prompt (admin).

If slowness persists, consider a Windows reset (keep files) — sometimes factory install has too much HP bloat.

2. Fast Battery Drain

Victus models are known to drain quickly if not optimized, especially with Ryzen + RTX.

Battery Fixes

Check battery health:

Open HP Support Assistant → Battery check.

If health is already below 80% in 2 months → request warranty replacement.

Force GPU switch

Go to Settings → System → Display → Graphics settings.

Set your browser & light apps to use Integrated GPU (AMD Radeon) instead of NVIDIA.

Games → set to High performance (NVIDIA).

Disable background GPU usage

In NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings → turn off “Background Application Max Frame Rate”.

Lower screen refresh rate when on battery

Settings → Display → Advanced Display → set to 60 Hz (instead of 120/144 Hz) when unplugged.

Power plan

Control Panel → Power Options → enable HP Recommended or Balanced for battery.

Use Best Performance only when gaming on AC power.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
