hp omen 17-cb0006nu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

I bought an HP Omen, model 17-cb0006nu with 2x8 gb of 2666 mhz ram half a year ago and I've been wanting to upgrade it to double that - 2x16 sticks of 3200 mhz Crucial ram. The website says I can do it for this model, however my supposed future ram will need 1.35 volts and will run at 3200 mhz as opposed to my current one that is just 2666 mhz and 1.2 volts.

Is it safe to upgrade or maybe should I go for the same voltage and refresh rate but maybe more vram, like 2x16, or should I just keep my current ram?

One more thing, the model is non - overclocable and the bios seems to be locked. It only shows the menu and the different tabs, but I can't change anything in it.

If it's safe to upgrade to a bigger and faster ram, would you recommend sending the notebook to an authorized hp service or just change it myself?

Thanks in advance 🙂

You may be able to install 3200MHz but it will automatically downgrade to 2666NHz and you can't overclock RAM.

HP Omen is a hot (runs hot) machine, running 1.35v RAM will make machine hotter. Do you really want that ?

Regards.
