Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

My notebook recently has had some booting problems, every time i try to boot it makes som sort of noise, but not from the fans. The display is blank (black screen) and no lighting comes except on my power button and the light turns off and on every few seconds. I got it around five days ago. When i bootup the notebook, i cannot seem to access BIOS, i tried to do it by pressing F10 so if im not pressing the right button please remind me. Prior to this i did install the latest version available of BIOS.

Productnumber: 5CR18EA#UUW

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Kindest regards

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?
  • What happens when you start the computer

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

Recover the last working BIOS version:

  1. Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.

  2. Press and hold the Windows key  and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds.

  3. Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.

Next, run Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8 (if the computer doesn't start up/power on you can skip the next step)

Next step, BIOS default:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
