OMEN 15 Poor performance less than a year after purchase

I bought this laptop back in September/October 2019. At the time it was really fast and was running games like Modern Warfare 2019 at max graphics and maintaining over 100fps for online play. Recently it seems to be struggling to get 60fps on the same game, with frame drops down to 40 and lower. For a 9th gen i7 and RTX2060 this is kinda ridiculous. Borderlands 3 barely scrapes past 60fps on medium settings and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order doesn't even get 50fps half the time. What could've caused this laptop to slow down so much in such a short space of time. There is plenty space on the SSD and a couple games run off an external hard drive but even then this performance loss is questionable.

Check your temperature with the Omen Control Center when it seems to be running slowly.

Check your CPU megahertz with Task Manager (extended view, Performance tag) when it seems to be running slowly.

Laptops throttle when they're hot. My guess is that it's hotter right now than it was back in October 2019. (Looks out window at scorching heat). Well, at least here in the Northern Hemisphere, anyhow.

I live in Scotland, it's almost always cold or mild here so the general air temperature shouldn't be making any difference. The CPU definitely doesn't seem to be working as hard as it was previously, Fallen Order only uses about 40-50% most of the time
