Hello all, i just started having real issues with my laptop ,  fans stop sudenly and start when they want , maybe , will start in few seconds or will never starts and the laptop will overheat, in gaming as well in desktop. When i reboot , il get the   system error 90B before it goes in windows loading. Fans works intermitent. In bios is put at Fans Always on. Makes no difference.I have tried Diagnostic UFI and doesnt gets to the end, fans stop working even in bios mode. I cleaned the fans , Bios is up to date , reinstalled Omen Gaming Hub , fans stop working even on manual fan speed mode. The laptop still have 25 days warranty fro factory and i took HP Care for 1 year longer. The problem is , i have difficulty to contact the warranty , in working hours i am at work  , no HP service arround (Germany) , and the waranty contact service is complicated and my german in technical level is abit weak, hope i can have english speaking . I have did all the steps from HP site related to the 90B error code.

Anyone have an idee about the problem?   I wil try tomorrow to contact them by phone. Thx alot.20251119_151602.jpg20251119_141319.jpg20251119_151611.jpg

Hi @Dacian,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for sharing the images. They confirm the situation clearly:

  • Image 1 & 3: OMEN Gaming Hub shows CPU temp ~78°C, GPU temp ~72°C, fan speed = 0 RPM, and a warning: “System performance has been temporarily limited due to high temperature.”
  • Image 2: BIOS error screen: “System Fan (90B) – The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly.”

This means:

  • The fans intermittently stop even in BIOS and diagnostics, which rules out software issues.
  • BIOS setting “Fans Always On” makes no difference → hardware or fan controller failure.
  • UEFI diagnostics cannot complete because fans stop mid-test → confirms hardware fault.

What a 90B Error Means

HP error 90B = Cooling fan not detected or not spinning at required speed. Causes:

  • Faulty fan motor or cable
  • Damaged fan controller on the motherboard
  • Loose fan connector
  • Rarely, corrupted firmware (but you updated the BIOS already)

Why OMEN Gaming Hub Shows 0 RPM

Even manual mode cannot override hardware failure. This is not a software bug; it’s a physical fan or controller issue.

What You Should Do

Since:

  • You have a 25-day factory warranty + HP Care Pack
  • Fans fail even in BIOS and diagnostics
  • Temperatures are dangerously high (78°C idle)

Do NOT continue using the laptop it risks thermal damage.

Why This Is Hardware

  • Fans stopping in BIOS = not OS-related.
  • OMEN Hub manual control fails = fan controller or fan assembly failure.
  • UEFI diagnostics cannot finish = hardware fault.

This indicated that the device either needs to be serviced, or reach the Support team to get all the help.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
