OMEN 15- DC1088WM
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am unsure when this problem first began and it may have very well came this way when I first purchased it brand new 5 months ago.  Because of the default color scheme having a different color for each zone, this problem isn't made apparent until changing each zone to a matching solid color, or to white.  3 of the 4 zones actually are not white at all and are more of a yellow-green with the left zone being the only one that is truly white.

This appears to be a common problem among Omen Notebook owners and here are several other threads on the issue.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Keyboard-Backlight-Displaying-...

I haven't found a solution nor have I seen where anyone else has solved the problem. I have tried all of the suggestions in other threads attempting to fix a software issue, but just like everyone else nothing has worked and only time has been expended.  So Is this a hardware issue and most likely a factory defect ?  Is this covered under warranty?   Any input other than what has already been mentioned would be appreciated.

Thank you

@dunkler

I reviewed your post and I understand that the 4 zone lighting is not working correctly.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

BIOS: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp108501-109000/sp108803.exe

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

@the_fossette,

As I said in my original post, all suggestions given in the aforementioned threads I had already tried, which included updating the bios.

So even though I already had that version installed, I went ahead and used the link you supplied and updated the bios (again)  just to say I did.

It didn't work.

(Edit)

To clarify, updating the bios with the link @the_fossette provided did not work.  Keyboard zone lighting is still yellow in 3 of 4 zones.

I also suffer from this problem and it is very annoying. I have not found a solution to it. Please give HP some attention to this problem.

@dunkler

I recommend you contact support as it looks like a hardware issue.
