Hi everyone. I recently bought an HP Omen (OMEN by HP - 15-ce012ni (3QU22EA)). It only came with a 1TB HDD and I want to expand on that by buying a 250GB M.2 SSD. I just have one problem though, I don't know what type of M.2 SSD to buy as there is an NVMe M.2 SSD type and the "normal" type I suppose. Could anyone help me with this, I figured I'd open up the laptop and check it out but I do need some sort of expert opinion on the matter because I read on another post message that the HP Omen supports both types of M.2 SSDs. If that is the case I want to gun for the "normal" M.2 SSD which is cheaper than the NVMe.

Sure thing @Lebogang85
The Omen 15-ce0xx series m.2 slot is setup for NVMe SSDs only.
Here is a link to the Maintenance Manual. HP has taken the original down for some reason but this link will open the same thing... Page 12 in ManualsLib.

You're welcome.
Be sure to create your HP USB Recovery Media on a 16GB flash drive before doing anything.
Also, assuming you are going to boot to SSD at that point, I highly recommend doing a clean install of Windows with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. You will need another USB flash drive for that.
You can download any drivers or software from HPs driver page for it.
And be sure to disconnect the HDD before install Windows to the SSD.
Afterward, you will probably have to wipe the HDD to use it for storage.
Backup, backup, backup I always say. 😉
