Hello!
I'm wondering if I can upgrade my HP 17-cb0041tx laptop, currently at DDR4 32GB (16GB x 2) to DDR4 62Gb (32GBx 2)? If so are there compatibility issues with other manufacturers that I should be aware of? (ie crucial, kingston, etc) Would there be issues if I used a 3200MHz stick though the one I have now only goes up to 2666MHz?
Thanks 🙂

Hi:
The Crucial memory report indicates that 2 x 32 GB of memory is supported.
HP HP OMEN 17-cb0041tx | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com
You can install a DDR4-3200 CL22 memory chip which will automatically bridge to 2666 MHz.
I recommend that you run this command to see what Windows indicates for the memory:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Thanks for the response!
I put the command in cmd and it came back with MaxCapacityEx 33554432. Does this conflict with the Crucial memory report that says I can go up to 64GB max?
Would it also work if I installed a 3200 RAM chip as the laptop came with 2666's?

You're very welcome.
There's a chance that 64 GB of memory may not work if Windows is reporting a max memory value of 32 GB.
I cannot find any posts on the forum where anyone has actually installed 64 GB of memory in that model series, so I can only tell you what I have informed anyone else who asked this question...
