Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

During the past month my computer has not been charging after unplugging my AC-adapter. After a few restarts and about an hour waiting it begun charging. When i trouble shot the Battery it said nothing was wrong but when i did the same for the AC-adapter it said ”The Smart Adapter feature failed to return valid data”. Now I have managed to uncharge the computer and it wont start.

@Pillowstalker,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

How did you run the test on the battery on the AC adapter?

Is the computer powering on with the AC adapter?

Have you tested with a different AC adapter?

Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

If you continue facing the issue, reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.

Here is how you do it.

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

I’m facing new problems right now. My computer died after that I installed the BIOs. Before that I trouble shot the battery and AC adapter by pressing F2 while starting and then going to components test. Right now I’m trying to find a store where I can try another adapter on my computer but I’m having problems finding ones with 230 Watts and 19,5 Volts and 11,8 A of output. MediaMarkt has the charger as a spare part but to use that i have to buy it eithout being able to return it.
