Hi all,
Just got an Omen 15 laptop with 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 8GB RAM (I believe the model number is 15-AX033DX). The OS is installed on the SDD, and I find I am quickly running out of space for applications. What seems to be taking up most of my space is Adobe CC applications (I am using this laptop mostly for console gaming capture and media editing).
All of my documents and multimedia are stored on the HDD. However, can anyone tell me if applications (like Adobe CC) can be stored to the HDD if the OS is on the SSD? This is my first time using a machine with both types of drives.
Thanks!

Hi @spuds151,
Good Day! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! 🙂 Hope you are doing well. 🙂 I understand that you require information on how to install applications to the HDD as the SSD is running out of space. It will be a delight to assist you here. 🙂
Fabulous analysis. Commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 It is always a genuine pleasure to work with customers that display such a degree of technical expertise. You are a valued HP customer. It is a genuine pleasure to serve you. 🙂
This is a very simple solution luckily and I am really happy for you. Please perform these steps.
- First, ensure that you have all Disks or media for all the applications that you have already installed to reinstall it back.
- Please back up all your data and saved files before uninstalling any application.
- Please select custom settings or modify or whatever the application prompts you with and not express settings on the application that you need to install.
- If so, you could easily reinstall all these applications including the adobe apps on the 1 TB HDD and not on the SSD.
- Please uninstall all the apps on the SSD that you have installed from control panel- programs and features completely.
- Then restart the computer. Then please install one application at a time.
- When you install each application, you could always change the path or location to the HDD from the SSD. You just need to follow the on-screen instructions screen by screen slowly without skipping any screen.
- If you want to change the path to install the required application, you could choose the location by clicking on browse and changing the path to the 1 TB HDD.
- Following these steps should do the trick for you and resolve the issue for you.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂
