Omen 15-dc0108tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Its brand new, had the issue from the start before any software was loaded. if the laptop is shut off and closed, the charging light is on but never achieves the white fully charged status. When the computer is started, it shows the same state of charge that it did prior to the attempt to recharge it. If the computer is running and the charger is connected, it charges normally.

@Pete-196,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

If you continue facing the issue, reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.

Here is how you do it.

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

At the moment I have been experimenting with it. I am not sure if I have found an answer at this point in time. So far how I was charging it was to plug in the charger to the power point and then connect the laptop - no charging, just an orange light. What i then did was connect the laptop first then plug it into the power point and it seems to be charging ok now. I haven't carried out the charging process enough times to be certain that its sorted out, will keep at it and then follow the other suggested steps to get it resolved.
