HP Omen 15t DID boot after replacing the right fan which had been very noisy and did not work. But replacement fan seemed far superior to original left fan that I decided to replace that as well. After replacing left fan, laptop would not boot.  Even after re-installing old original left fan, the laptop would not start.

@save-a-reef, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with getting your HP Omen 15t to boot after replacing the fan. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Double-Check Connections: Ensure that all the connections inside the laptop are secure and properly connected. This includes the fan connectors, battery connection, and any other internal connectors that might have been disturbed during the replacement process.

Inspect for Physical Obstructions: Occasionally, when working inside a laptop, a small object or a loose screw may get lodged in the components, causing the device not to start. Make sure nothing is obstructing any moving parts or shorting any circuits.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the laptop from any AC power adapter.
  • Remove the battery if it is removable.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try to power on the laptop.

Check for Indicator Lights and Sounds: When you press the power button, check if there are any LED indicators or beeping sounds. These can often offer clues as to what might be wrong.

BIOS/CMOS Reset: If the laptop shows any signs of life, such as fans spinning or indicator lights, but still does not boot, consider resetting the BIOS/CMOS. This typically involves accessing internal jumpers, which should be done cautiously and with proper guidance from a service manual or a professional.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

After several dis- and re- assemblies, I finally solved my own problem! One video mentioned that inserting the new RIGHT fan was a bit tricky trying to work under the heatsink in narrow quarters. Another video removed the heatsink and the fan and cover just dropped into place.
Incidentally, I noticed that the power button seemed to be more recessed than before. I decided to remove the heatsink, then the fan cover and fan. When I pressed the power button, it was obvious that it was attached to a small board under the fan. Inserting the fan had pulled the ribbon loose but was not visible. In addition, the blue plastic end cover was gone. I ordered a replacement power button board and it was much more secure (even in holes that simply popped down over plastic "x"s.
That was the problem! After reassembly, i depressed the power button and my laptop was back!

Hi @save-a-reef,

Thank you for your response.

Thank you for sharing your experience in such detail! I can almost picture the careful rhythm of disassembling and reassembling the parts—the tight squeeze under the heatsink, the satisfying click of the new board settling into place, and finally the gentle press of the power button bringing your laptop back to life. It must have felt like a wave of relief and accomplishment when the screen lit up again. We truly appreciate the patience and persistence you showed in troubleshooting, and we’re glad everything is working smoothly now. Your story will surely help others facing the same challenge!
