Hi @Nesisage,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing a blue screen error while rendering on your HP Omen 15, especially when it's plugged in, can be frustrating. Here are some steps that could help resolve the issue.

Check for Overheating

Rendering can be resource-intensive and may cause the laptop to overheat, particularly when performance settings are set to high while plugged in.

  • Ensure proper ventilation: Use a cooling pad or ensure the laptop is on a hard, flat surface to allow proper airflow.
  • Clean the vents: Dust can obstruct airflow, causing overheating. Use a can of compressed air to clean the vents.

Update Drivers and BIOS

Ensure that your graphics drivers and BIOS are up-to-date as outdated software can lead to compatibility issues and cause blue screens.

  • Update Graphics Drivers:
    • Visit the HP Support Website or NVIDIA/AMD website to download the latest drivers for your graphics card.
  • Update BIOS:
    • Check for the latest BIOS updates on the HP Support Website specific to your HP Omen 15 model.

Adjust Power Settings

High-performance settings when plugged in may sometimes lead to stability issues.

  • Change Power Plan Settings:
    1. Open Control Panel > Power Options.
    2. Choose Balanced instead of High Performance, or customize the settings to balance performance and stability.

Check for Windows Updates

Make sure your operating system is up-to-date as updates often include fixes for known issues.

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Run Hardware Diagnostics

Running built-in diagnostics can help identify potential hardware issues.

  • Restart the laptop and press F2 to enter the UEFI diagnostics menu.
  • Run both the fast and extensive tests to check for any hardware anomalies.

Check for Software Conflicts

Check if there are any background applications that could be causing a conflict during rendering.

  • Disable Startup Programs:
    1. Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
    2. Click the Startup tab and disable unnecessary programs.

Analyze Blue Screen Error Codes

If possible, note down the specific error code displayed during the blue screen. This can help in diagnosing the exact issue.

  • Use the Event Viewer by searching for it in the Start menu to view error logs for more details on what might be causing the crashes.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the blue screen errors you are encountering.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
