OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-b0000 (472J1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

The touchpad of the Omen 16-b0080tx laptop freezes. When I turn off the touchpad by pressing fn + f11 and turn it on again, it starts working as it should, but not for long, about 15-20 minutes and then starts to freeze again. What could be the problem and how to solve it? Device drivers are constantly updated.

Hi @Shakhrukh,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Omen 16-b0080tx touchpad freezing. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Restart your laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can fix temporary glitches, so start by rebooting your computer and see if that resolves the issue.
  • Update drivers: Outdated or incompatible touchpad drivers can cause problems. Visit the official HP support website (or the manufacturer's website) and search for the latest touchpad drivers for your specific model. Download and install any available updates.
  • Check touchpad settings: Ensure that the touchpad is enabled in your laptop's settings. On Windows, go to the Control Panel or Settings, then look for the "Mouse" or "Touchpad" settings. Make sure the touchpad is enabled and configured correctly.
  • Disable palm rejection: Palm rejection is a feature that prevents accidental touchpad input when you rest your palm on the touchpad. However, it can sometimes cause issues. Try disabling palm rejection and see if that helps. You can find this option in the touchpad settings.
  • Clean the touchpad: Dust, dirt, or debris on the touchpad surface can interfere with its functionality. Use a soft cloth or microfiber cloth to gently clean the touchpad.
  • Check for physical damage: Examine the touchpad for any visible damage or signs of wear. If you notice any physical damage, it might require repair or replacement by a professional.
  • External mouse: If you have an external mouse available, try connecting it to your laptop and see if it works without any issues. This can help determine if the problem is with the touchpad itself or the laptop's software.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello. Thanks for taking the time and answering my problem. I have already performed the above procedures, but there is no result. There is no damage to the touchpad itself, the laptop is new and I don’t think that the touchpad could become so clogged in such a short time. Drivers are updated constantly as soon as a new version is released. I noticed sometimes, when I type something, and my right hand lies on the right empty space from the touchpad, it starts to freeze, maybe this is one of the reasons, is it possible that I touch the touchpad itself or some kind of cable from it ?
