OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck0000 (2Y4A9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My new Omen 17 with i7 11800h / 3070 (received yesterday) makes a very high pitched (almost 'ear piercing') sound when it is powered on or restarted. It is also constantly present when accessing the BIOS.

The sound goes away before Windows loads and is not heard when playing games. It did not happen the first time I powered the laptop on, but has been present following automatic updates, which included a BIOS update.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

The high pitched whine has not returned, so appears that it may have been a temporary (but very unusual) issue.

I ran the diagnostics, System Fast Test. The first pass took around 3 minutes and passed successfully. The System Fast Test -  second pass stated an estimated completion time of 2 hours, I cancelled it after 15 minutes.

Edit: I forgot to mention. When entering HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI there is a message stating 'Version 8.2.0.0. Your current version of Diagnostics is not up to date, please go to www.hp.com/go/techsupport/PCDiags to update your Diagnostics. I have done this, and have installed the SP below but still receive the 'not up to date' message.
