Hello, i'd like to buy 2 new memory rams 2*8GB because right now my computer has 12gb(4+8) and to make to run on dual channel. Do you know till how many mhz of ram my computer supports? It has 2400mhz but i was thinking about going for 2666 or 3000mhz. Is it possible?

Hello @gibsonlp
If you are wanting to move up from 12 to 16GB of memory, you could just replace the 4GB stick with another 8GB stick.
To ensure it will run in dual channel, you need to read the timings of the original stick, and match it with a new one. You can use CPUz to read the timings.
Here is an example of what to look for...
Match your timings to a new stick with the same.
Otherwise, if your going to go with 16GB, you could also just buy one 16GB stick and then you can add another one later for a total of 32.
The system is supposed to be able to utilize up to 2666Mhz, but many have said that series would only run at the default 2400Mhz. You cannot overclock the ram in an HP, so buying 3000Mhz would be a waste.
Here is your manual, page 43 for accessing the memory...

Im saying if you keep the old 8GB stick and only add one more 8GB stick, the timings and voltage need to match, the brand doesn't necessarily, but it helps if the controllers are the same to avoid a possible hiccup (usually not a problem).
In your image, you show your timings as 17 17 17 39. In order to run the system as optimal in dual channel, you need these timings to match on both sticks. This would save you some money over buying 2 new sticks of So-Dimm memory.

If you are asking about removing both current sticks and installing ONLY one larger stick, then the timings aren't as big a deal. But if you decide later that you want to add another 16GB stick, you will want to add the same stick again to ensure there are no issues. You dont have to use the same brand, but it helps to keep everything the exact same just to avoid possible unforeseen issues.
