HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

Really heavy 330 watt pwr supply is very fussy with the 110v cord.  Barely touching it breaks contact, and PC goes to battery. Have to use a meter to see when I wiggle the cord to see if it is working.  Had same issue with original supply, and the replacement is almost as bad.  Also, this power supply is quite bulky and about as heavy as the laptop!

That is the way electrical works. I used to have a 330W charger, its size is nearly the same size of a box of tissue (100 sheets). Your machines requires 330W, it won't run properly with anything lass.

The power cord itself should be 30A and that is big. Normal household power cord is round 10A to 20A. You need a much thicker/bigger cord. Note: please look at a set of car power jumper, nearly all cards use 15Y batteries but when cranking up you need a thick set of cable.

Regards.
