Omen 17T 4FJ26AV_1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I recently purchased an Omen 17T with the Thunderbolt 3/USB-C port; this is my first device with TB3 though I was under the impression that the port could be used as both TB3 and a normal USB-C port; I do not have a TB3 device to test with yet but when I plug in a USB device via USB3 it does not appear that any power is being sent and no device shows up as being connected (test device is a Magewell USB HDMI+ Capture device).

Does anyone know if this port is strictly a TB3 port that will not work with standard USB devices, or if there's some other reason why it would not send power/data via USB on the port?

Greetings!

Welcome to the HP Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, you are not able to charge the devices using the USB Type-C power connector and Thunderbolt port.

Don't worry, I'm here to help! To better assist you - Have you tried any other device with a Type-C connector?

This port is responsible for - Connecting and charging most USB devices that have a Type-C
connector, such as a cell phone, camera, activity tracker, or smartwatch, and provides high-speed data transfer.

In the meantime, let's try updating the computer -

Step 1 Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -
