Hello, I'm at a bit of a loss for what to do, but my laptop seems to be a little bit broken!!

 

When I press the power button, it lights up and I can hear the fans engage before everything immediately shuts off. It will do this every three or so seconds, seemingly indefinitely. 

 

I've tried holding down the power button, which only succeeds in stopping the infinite loop until I press it again, please help!!

 

EDIT: Tried a CMOS Rest and that at least stopped the infinite loop, however the screen is still off and now the caps lock key is flashing in a sequence of three long blinks followed by two short blinks.

Your laptop is experiencing a hardware issue, possibly related to the motherboard, RAM, or BIOS. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Check the Caps Lock Blink Code: The sequence of three long blinks followed by two short blinks might indicate a specific error. Refer to your laptop's manual or the manufacturer's website to decode this blink pattern. It could provide insight into the exact issue.

Inspect the RAM: Faulty or improperly seated RAM can cause boot issues. If you're comfortable doing so, open your laptop and reseat the RAM modules. If you have multiple RAM sticks, try booting with one at a time to identify if one is faulty.

Perform a Hard Reset:  Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable). Press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds to discharge residual power. Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning on the laptop.

Test the Display: Connect your laptop to an external monitor to check if the issue is with the display. If the external monitor works, the problem might be with your laptop's screen.

Reset the BIOS: Since you've already tried a CMOS reset, you might need to perform a BIOS recovery. Some laptops have a specific key combination (e.g., holding down the Windows and B keys while powering on) to initiate BIOS recovery. Check your laptop's documentation for details.
