OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck0000 (3V6M2AV)

Hi!

So basically my laptop (Hp Omen 17) works a lot slower when its plugged in then when its not, and before it was working normal, the problem came out of nowhere and im thinking that it might be a problem with the AC Adaptor(the charger)? and i need some help cause i dont know where to get a new one or if that is not the problem.

Edit: I also forgot to say that like 20 mins after i got the problem i tried to restart my laptop and got the CMOS 502 restart error.

It sounds like your HP Omen 17 is experiencing a couple of issues. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the problem.

 

  • Check Power Settings: Sometimes the issue can be related to power settings. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and make sure that your laptop is set to High Performance when plugged in.
  • Inspect the AC Adapter: If the AC adapter isn't providing enough power, it could cause performance issues. Check if the adapter is warm or showing any signs of damage. Using a different compatible charger might help determine if this is the issue.
  • Update Drivers: Make sure all your drivers, especially the graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. You can find updates on the HP website or through Windows Update.
  • Battery Health Check: Sometimes the issue can be related to battery health. You can check the battery health status in the BIOS or using diagnostic tools provided by HP.
  • BIOS Update: If you’re getting a CMOS error, it might be worth updating your BIOS. Check the HP support site for the latest BIOS version for your model and follow their instructions for updating.
  • Check for Overheating: Ensure that your laptop is not overheating. Dust buildup in the fans or vents can cause throttling. Clean the vents and fans if necessary, and make sure the laptop is on a hard, flat surface.
  • Reset BIOS Settings: The CMOS error could indicate that BIOS settings have become corrupted. Try resetting the BIOS settings to default to see if that resolves the issue.
  • Run Diagnostics: Use HP's built-in diagnostics tool to check for hardware issues. You can access this by pressing Esc during startup and selecting System Diagnostics.
