OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-xf0000 IDS Base Model

My HP Omen gaming laptop overheated while on the pause menu of Microsoft Flight Simulator for ~20 minutes while I ate dinner. It will not turn back on. I took it to an authorized service center (Best Buy/Geek Squad). They mailed it to their repair facility who took 6 weeks to inform Best Buy that they couldn't fix it because it was a "custom" device (false, it isn't) and they couldn't order a part for it and sent it back. They did not provide any further information. Best Buy recommended I mail it to HP to get fixed, but I do not know how to do so because the HP website does not offer that option or even the ability to talk to customer service, at least that I can see (no such option in the "Contact Official HP Support" page). Any advice?

This is extremely frustrating, especially as the device is only 18 months old (1 year warranty, naturally). A modern gaming laptop this recent should not be cooking itself like this.
