Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My hp omen 15 will not start up. I can see it is charging with the orange light when plugged in. The power light turns on for  about 5 seconds and then shuts off when I press the power button to start it up. I tried unplugging the power, holding the power button down for 30 seconds and trying to power on again and the same thing happens. It has been charging for an hour and no change. Anyone with any tips I’d appreciate it very much!

Hi @Gatesbridge4,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand  you're experiencing a hardware issue with your HP Omen 15 gaming laptop. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Hard Reset (Power Drain)

  • Unplug the charger and remove any external devices (USB, HDMI, etc.).
  • Hold down the power button for 30-60 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Release the button, wait a few seconds, and then plug the charger back in.
  • Try to power on the laptop again.

2. Check for a Battery/Power Issue

  • Remove the battery (if removable) and try to power on the laptop with just the charger connected. If it powers on, this could point to a battery issue.
  • If the battery is non-removable, let the laptop charge for at least 1-2 hours, then try powering it on again.
  • If the power LED is orange, it indicates the battery is charging. Once fully charged, it should turn white.

3. Perform a BIOS Reset

  • Unplug the charger and press the power button + Windows key + B (or the power button + volume down button for some models).
  • Keep holding until you hear beeps or the screen turns on to see if this forces a BIOS reset.

4. Check for a Display Issue

  • Sometimes the laptop may power on but not display anything due to a screen or connection issue. Try connecting to an external monitor or TV via HDMI to see if the laptop is outputting a display externally.

5. Reset the RAM (Memory)

  • If you're comfortable, try reseating the RAM by opening the back cover of the laptop.
  • Remove the RAM, clean the contacts gently, and reseat them back into the slots.
  • Power the laptop back on to see if this resolves the issue.

6. Check for Faulty Peripherals

  • If you have recently added any new hardware (e.g., a new SSD, RAM), try removing or disconnecting those to see if the laptop boots up without them. understand you are facing an issue with your HP Product. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
