Hi @mcgrathfamily42,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To help me understand the situation better, could you please share a bit more information?

 Please let me know:

What exact HP Omen 16 model ?

Did the laptop shut off during the BIOS update, or did it say the update was successful before going dark?

Are there any lights at all when powering on (caps lock, power LED, keyboard)?

1. Check for any signs of functionality.

When you press the power button:

  • Do any keyboard or power lights turn on?
  • Do fans spin briefly?
  • Do you hear any beeps

This helps determine whether the system is POSTing at all.

2. Try a basic hard reset

  1. Unplug the laptop.
  2. Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  3. Plug the charger back in and try turning it on again.
Let me know if anything changes.

 3. External display test

Even if the laptop’s internal panel shows nothing, sometimes the GPU still outputs video.

  • Can you try connecting it to an external monitor or TV via HDMI and see if anything shows up?

Tell me whether the external screen receives a signal.

4. BIOS Recovery

Even with a blank screen, sometimes the BIOS recovery menu still loads.
Press  Windows key + B, then power, keeping Win + B held for around 10 seconds.

Let me know if you hear fans ramping up or any beeps and wait for the information on the display popping up.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!
