My omen laptop suddenly shut down, black screen. No charge into computer from our AC adaptor, power button blinks white. Can't get any response. Tried a different adaptor but I don't think it works with our computer. Can't do any self help troubleshooting as no power.  The AC adaptor had been running hot for a while. Is it likely that it's damaged the computer?  Can these batteries be replaced?

It sounds like your OMEN 17-cb1025TX laptop may be experiencing power issues. While this can be caused by several factors, including the AC adapter or the battery, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check the AC Adapter and Power Source

  1. Verify Power Source: Ensure that the power source you are using is functioning correctly.
  2. Inspect AC Adapter: If your AC adapter was running hot, it might be damaged. Check if there are visible signs of damage or if it’s not functioning correctly.
  3. Use a Compatible AC Adapter: Make sure the alternative AC adapter is compatible with your OMEN laptop model.

Reset the Laptop

  1. Power Reset: Disconnect the AC adapter, remove the battery (if removable), and press the power button for about 20 seconds. This can help discharge excess power and reset the laptop.
  2. Reconnect Battery and AC Adapter: After performing the power reset, reconnect the battery and the AC adapter and try to turn on the laptop.

Battery Replacement

  1. Check for Battery Issues: If the battery is not holding charge or the laptop isn’t working even when plugged in, the battery might need to be replaced.
  2. Replace Battery: Contact HP Support or an authorized HP service provider to get assistance with purchasing and replacing the battery. Ensure you use the correct battery model for your OMEN laptop.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thankyou, it's a non removable battery (that I know of) we opted to take it to be assessed & possibly repaired. It's still under extended warranty so hopefully that covers it. We did check the power supply to the best of our abilities but couldn't power it up. You have given very clear instructions.
