Hi @Shade7861,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I can feel how frustrating this must be, especially when you’ve already tried reinstalling and updating multiple times. Keyboard backlighting is such an essential part of the gaming experience, and when the colors don’t respond the way you expect, it really takes away that immersive vibe.
Here’s what we can do step by step to get your Victus 16’s RGB lighting back under your control:
1. Confirm OMEN Gaming Hub and Light Studio Installation
- Make sure OMEN Gaming Hub and OMEN Light Studio are both installed and updated from the Microsoft Store.
- Sometimes Light Studio doesn’t auto-install with Gaming Hub, and that’s the module that enables advanced RGB effects.
2. Check OMEN Light Studio Permissions
- Open OMEN Gaming Hub → Lighting → Advanced Settings.
- If you see a prompt to enable OMEN Light Studio, click Install/Enable.
- Restart the laptop after enabling.
3. Update System Drivers & BIOS
- Go to HP Support Assistant or the Official HP® Support page for Victus 16.
- Install:
- Latest BIOS update
- OMEN SDK package
- Keyboard driver (sometimes listed under “Input Devices”)
- Restart after updates.
4. Reset OMEN Gaming Hub
- In Windows Settings → Apps → OMEN Gaming Hub → Advanced Options → Reset.
- This clears corrupted configs without uninstalling everything.
5. Test RGB Control
- Open OMEN Gaming Hub → Lighting → Advanced (OMEN Light Studio).
- Apply a preset like Rainbow Wave or Reactive.
- If it still doesn’t respond, try switching to Basic RGB, then back to Advanced.
6. If Issue Persists
- Uninstall OMEN Gaming Hub and OMEN Light Studio completely.
- Reinstall from OMEN Gaming Hub | HP® Official Site.
- Sign in with your HP account after reinstall.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
