@Joe_7892, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

A little warmth is normal, but if your HP Victus laptop adapter is overheating to the point where it's too hot to touch or causing shutdowns, that's a problem.

If you're gaming or running demanding software, the adapter works harder. Try using the laptop on a lower power mode when not gaming to reduce the load.

If the adapter is on a soft surface (like a bed or carpet), it can trap heat. Place it on a hard, cool surface with good airflow.

Check if it gets abnormally hot even when the laptop is off. If so, consider replacing it.

If the cable is frayed, bent, or has exposed wires, it can overheat. Inspect the cable and replace it if needed.

If the overheating persists even after these steps, the adapter could be faulty, and replacing it with an original HP adapter is recommended.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
