Hp omen 15 i7850 16gb ram nvidia 1060 gtx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi my name is Dan and i have a very strange issue with my omen 15 2018 i7850i Nvidia gtx 1060.

My omen is only!!!! one and half month old.

While the charger plugged in as  i brows in the web or just open pdf's to do my homework (nothing to hard ) my omen cpu start to stress as well as the fans and the heat raise from 39-50 to 80.

While gaming when the charger is plugin the temperature goes over 90.

Problem number two is that my omen shut down is very slow and i think it as something to do with updates but i dont no which one because i update all the time.

This machine suppose to be very strong due to the technical specifications so i dont think there is a logic reason to the increased  it by 50c juat by plugin the charger.

I try to speak with hp israel and thay didnt didnt solve my problem.

So please tell me what to do and how to fix it?

or how to get a replacement from hp.

Buy the way i will be glad for some advise of how to low heat while gaming  and a good cooler.

Tnx i will be very thankful for your help

Hello @Danos

It would help us better if you include the full product number of you Omen.

If you open the HP Support Assistant, its located there.

Im not an employee, just a volunteer.

Its absolutely normal for the system to run hotter while plugged in, than on battery only. The system throttles the cpu down on battery to conserve power. You will notice that when gaming on battery only, your frames per second is also lower.

But HPs have been know to run really hot into the 90s while gaming also.

The only way to bring it down is to undervolt the cpu. You have to use a utility like Intel XTU or Throttlestop to do it.

There are lots of tutorials online on how to use them. Thats the best I can offer on that.

As for the Windows update hindering its shut down, I would have no way of knowing which one is possibly causing it.

You would have to uninstall updates to find the culprit. I actually like to clean install Windows even though its a new machine to clear out the extra unnecessary stuff added. Sometimes it helps with the temps also.

You can use F11 at startup to do a factory reset or clean install Windows 10 from Microsoft directly. No key needed.

If you do reinstall, turn on Windows Restore Points afterward so you can revert back in time if an update causes this again. Microsoft turns them off by default. System Restore Points (Windows 10, 😎 |

Tnx.

But i cant cant cant agree with you at as to be something in the software, it is not logic for any computer to reach this temp (80) while plugin and just browsing the net .

You need to also understand that in th first month everything was ok the temp while plugin was between 50 to 60 and while gaming between 78 to 84, and now it is 80 while plugin and just browsing and over 92 while gaming, dont forget the computer is only 2 month old.
